Antibiotic belonging to the phosphonate group with bacteriostatic action. It acts by inhibiting the first step in the synthesis of the bacterial wall. It is a wide spectrum antibiotic, although its action is more pronounced against gram-positive, aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.  Active against many enterobacteriaceae.
Does not present any cross resistance with other antibiotics.
